I kept meaning to comment on this one but I listened to the episode a while ago so I don’t really remember what I wanted to say, except: my favorite moment of the ep is also when Xander and Anya come in when everything has started to take effect and Giles tries to explain what’s happening (in his own utter confusion) and hilarity ensues. I also love Spike’s delivery of the Wind Beneath My Wings reveal, like he knows just how embarrassing it’s going to be and revels in that.
Regarding the writer for this ep also writing Beer Bad & Where the Wild Things Are – I can see Beer Bad, because that had some of the goofy funniness of Something Blue. But Where the Wild Things Are is an episode I can’t even rewatch, it’s so bad. I think the only part of that episode I thought was somewhat fun was Giles singing, but like, even the concept for that episode felt entirely unnecessary. I have no problem with monster of the week-type episodes, but then… pick something better.
